Presentation of Marina De Franceschini at XXXI Colloquio Aiscom – Associazione italiana per lo studio e la conservazione del mosaico
Thursday 20 March 2025, 3:00 pm
«Villa Adriana. Il Mosaico con Tre Ghirlande dell'Accademia».
(Villa Adriana, The Mosaic with Three Garlands of the Accademia)
The mosaic, mounted on a large panel, is now in the Vatican Museums, in the Sala delle Nozze Aldobrandini.
It was found in the Accademia building in April 1737 by Monsignor Giuseppe Alessandro Furietti, together with the famous Mosaic of the Doves.
Upon Furietti's death, the two mosaics and the statues of the Centaurs of Aristeas and Papias were sold by his heirs to Pope Clement XIII, who purchased them for the Capitoline Museums.
The XXXI Colloquium is organized by Aiscom – the Italian Association for the Study and Conservation of Mosaics – in Tortona, from March 19 to 22, in the Sala Giovani of the Teatro Civico, in via Ammiraglio Mirabello 3.
On the Aiscom Facebook page there will be a link to attend the Colloquium online in streaming.
