The astronomical orientation of the Mausoleum of Monte del Grano in Rome
It is the third largest Mausoleum in Rome, after the Mausoleum of Augustus and that of Hadrian (Castel Sant'Angelo). Like many other Roman monuments, it has been known for centuries, but we do not know who built it and very little is known about its history.
Thanks to an intuition of the friends of the association Sotterranei di Roma we have discovered and studied the astronomical orientation of this Mausoleum, where during the days of the Summer Solstice there are illuminations whose symbolic meaning we be explained in detail.
